Here Come the Brides is an American comedy-drama/western that centers around the Bolt brothers — Jason (Robert Brown), Jeremy (Bobby Sherman), and Joshua (David Soul) — who own and operate a logging company near Seattle. When their crew threatens to quit because there are no women in the area, the brothers devise a plan: to bring a group of marriageable women from New Bedford, Massachusetts, to Seattle, thereby creating a more balanced and civilized community. Complications, romances, and comedic situations follow as the new arrivals adjust to frontier life, and the locals adapt to their presence. The show is loosely inspired by the real-life “Mercer Girls” — women brought from the East Coast to help settle the Pacific Northwest. Although it had a short run, Here Come the Brides developed a loyal fan base, helped launch Bobby Sherman’s music career, and remains a beloved example of TV that blended Western and romantic comedy genres.
